Celebrate the summer heat weekend with three days of competition, community, and unforgettable pickleball action on the California coast! The Santa Barbara Open brings together passionate players from across the region for a festive tournament experience hosted at the beautiful Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara.

🗓️ Tournament Schedule, Format, & Rules

  • Friday, July 18 – Men’s Doubles & Women’s Singles | 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
  • Saturday, July 19 – Women’s Doubles & Men’s Singles | 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM
  • Sunday, July 20 – Mixed Doubles | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Each event follows a Round Robin format with a guarantee of five games per team, with playoffs.

Quick Bracket Play: Divisions will finish within 3.5 hours with a minimum of 5 matches (or 4 matches to 15 if applicable).

DUPR Requirements

Match Reporting: All matches will be reported to DUPR. Results will be uploaded within 2 weeks after the tournament.

DUPR Account: You will be required to submit a DUPR ID. Please create a FREE account at https://mydupr.com if you do not already have one. Join the Diamond League Pickleball club to ensure accurate score recording.

Tournament Rules

Official Ball: FRANKLIN X-40.

Regulations: USAPA 2025 pickleball rules apply. Only USAPA-approved paddles are permitted. Net serves are in continuous play. Out calls must be clear and loud.

Age & Rating Compliance: Both partners must be aged 50+(or turn 50 in year 2025) to enter the 50+ division. If one partner is under 50, the team must enter the 12+ division. Partners can play above their DUPR rating but not below. If both partners are rated 3.49 or below, they may enter the 3.0 division. For the 3.5 division, both must be rated 3.99 or below. DUPR ratings are checked 3 days before end of registration.

Tie Breakers: Head-to-head results, followed by point differential.

Disqualification: Registering in a lower division than your rating may result in disqualification.

  • Entry Fee: $75 for the first event, per person ($45 entry fee + $30 for first event)
  • Event: +$30 each event (up to 3 total events), per person
  • Deadline: Registration closes Wednesday, July 16 or when divisions fill

Diamond League Pickleball (hello@diamondleaguepickleball.com) will manage tournament communications. All fees are processed securely via Stripe, and a portion of proceeds supports shared player perks like snacks, water, and medals.

The Santa Barbara Open is exactly that — open to all players! Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or a passionate rec player, this is your moment to shine. Divisions will be organized by skill level and availability.

We will have the following Divisions for Mixed, Women’s, and Men’s events:

Men’s Doubles

  • 2.5 Division
  • 3.0 Division (12+ and 50+)
  • 3.5 Division (12+ and 50+)
  • 4.0 Division (12+ and 50+)
  • 4.5 Division

Women’s Doubles

  • 2.5 Division
  • 3.0 Division (12+ and 50+)
  • 3.5 Division (12+ and 50+)
  • 4.0 Division (12+ and 50+)
  • 4.5 Division

Mixed Doubles

  • 2.5 Division
  • 3.0 Division (12+ and 50+)
  • 3.5 Division (12+ and 50+)
  • 4.0 Division (12+ and 50+)
  • 4.5 Division

Singles

We are also offering Men’s and Women’s Singles Divisions!

The Men’s Singles Divisions will play on Saturday at the same time the Women’s Doubles play, and the Women’s Singles Division will play on Friday, when the Men’s Doubles play! We will offer these divisions:

  • 3.0 Division
  • 3.5 Division
  • 4.0 Division
  • 4.5 Division

Note: Some age groups may be combined for optimal round-robin groupings.

Located just minutes from downtown Santa Barbara, the venue features 7 dedicated courts, ample parking, and shaded areas for players and spectators. Alcohol is strictly prohibited.
